U.S. Naval Update Map: March 25, 2009



Carrier Strike Groups

* The USS Theodore Roosevelt CSG is currently located in the northern Arabian Sea conducting maritime security operations for the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR) which includes Iraq and Afghanistan.
* The USS John C. Stennis is under way on a six-month deployment to the western Pacific.
* The USS Nimitz is conducting Final Evaluation Problem (FEP) exercises in the Southern California Operating Area as part of the scheduled workup for its next scheduled deployment.
* The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is currently under way in the Arabian Sea supporting ongoing security operations in the 5th Fleet AOR.
* The USS Ronald Reagan is conducting sustainment exercises in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
* The USS Harry S. Truman returned to its home port of Norfolk, Virginia on March 23 after completing carrier qualifications exercises in the Western Atlantic.

Expeditionary Strike Groups

* USS Boxer ESG is currently supporting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet AOR as the flagship for Combined Task Force 151 (CTF-151).
* The USS Bataan is under way in the Atlantic Ocean conducting routine operations.
* The USS Bonhomme Richard is currently under way in the Southern California Operating Area conducting routine training operations for a deployment to the Western Pacific later this year.
* The USS Iwo Jima ESG is scheduled to return to its home port of Naval Station Norfolk, Virgina on March 27 after completing a seven-month deployment to the 5th and 6th Fleet AORs supporting maritime security operations. Elements of the ESG began returning as early as March 21 including the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) based in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
