U.S. Naval Update Map: April 1, 2009



Carrier Strike Groups

* The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is currently located in the northern Arabian Sea supporting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR).
* The USS Theodore Roosevelt transited the Suez Canal on March 27 and is currently under way in the Mediterranean Sea in the 6th Fleet AOR en route to its home port of Naval Station Norfolk, Va.
* The USS Ronald Reagan returned to its home port of San Diego on March 26 after completing sustainment exercises (SUSTAINEX) in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
* The USS John C. Stennis is under way in the western Pacific Ocean conducting scheduled operations as part of its six-month deployment to the region.
* The USS Abraham Lincoln is currently conducting routine operations in the eastern Pacific Ocean after undergoing scheduled repairs during a Carrier Incremental Availability.
* The USS Nimitz returned to its home port of San Diego on March 27 after completing its Fleet Replacement Squadron Carrier Qualifications exercises off the coast of Southern California.

Expeditionary Strike Groups

* The USS Iwo Jima returned to its home port of Naval Station Norfolk on March 27 after completing a scheduled seven-month deployment to the 5th Fleet and 6th Fleet AORs.
* The USS Boxer is currently under way in the Gulf of Aden conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet AOR. The USS Boxer is also the flagship of Combined Task Force 151, a counterpiracy operation to detect and deter piracy in the 5th Fleet AOR.
