U.S. Naval Update Map: July 1, 2009



Carrier Strike Groups

* The USS John C. Stennis CSG departed from Everett, Wash., on June 30 and is currently en route to San Diego, Calif., on a Tiger Cruise with crew members’ friends and families.
* The USS Harry S. Truman CSG is conducting routine operations in the western Atlantic.
* The USS Ronald Reagan CSG is under way in the Indian Ocean after concluding a three-day scheduled port visit to Singapore on June 28.
* The USS George Washington CSG is currently under way in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations as part of the ship’s regular summer deployment.
* The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CSG is under way in the North Arabian Sea conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR).
* The USS Carl Vinson is currently conducting sea trials in the western Atlantic.

Amphibious Ready Groups/Marine Expeditionary Units

* The USS Boxer ARG along with the 13th MEU anchored in Phuket, Thailand, on June 25 for several days of rest and relaxation on the return home from a regularly scheduled deployment to the U.S. Pacific and Central Commands in support of global maritime security.
* The USS Bataan ARG is conducting Marine Security Operations in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations along with embarked Marines from the 22nd MEU.
* The USS Bonhomme Richard ARG is conducting its initial integration exercise with the 11th MEU off the U.S. Pacific coast.
* The USS Iwo Jima is currently under way in the Atlantic Ocean.

Carrier Strike Groups

* The USS John C. Stennis CSG is currently located in the Gulf of Alaska participating in the Northern Edge 2009 joint exercises focusing on acquiring and tracking targets on land, at sea and in the air.
* The USS Harry S. Truman is currently under way in the western Atlantic Ocean, where it had been conducting Composite Unit Training Exercises that concluded June 23.
* The USS Ronald Reagan CSG arrived in Singapore on June 24 for a scheduled port visit, the first port visit of the ship’s 2009 Western Pacific deployment.
* The USS George Washington CSG is currently under way in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations as part of the ship’s regular summer deployment.

*The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CSG is under way in the North Arabian Sea conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR).

Amphibious Ready Groups/Marine Expeditionary Units

* The USS Essex ARG is currently under way in the Pacific Ocean serving as the flagship for CTF 76, the Navy’s only forward-deployed amphibious force commander. The USS Essex ARG is made up of three warships as well as the 31st MEU.
* The USS Bataan entered the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations after transiting the Suez Canal and relieving the USS Boxer on June 20. The USS Bataan will be conducting Marine Security Operations while deployed to the region along with embarked Marines from the 22nd MEU.
* The USS Nassau is currently under way in the Atlantic Ocean.
* The USS Iwo Jima is currently under way in the Atlantic Ocean following its return to Norfolk, Va., last week.

* The USS George Washington CSG is currently located in the Philippine Sea conducting maritime security operations and supporting stability in the region as part of its scheduled deployment.
* The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CSG is under way in the North Arabian Sea conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet AOR.

Amphibious Ready Groups/Marine Expeditionary Units

* The USS Essex ARG and the embarked 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) departed Okinawa, Japan on June 15 for the Talisman Saber 2009 joint exercises scheduled for July 6-26 with the Australian Defense Force in Australia.
* The USS Boxer and the embarked 13th MEU ARG is under way in the 7th Fleet AOR conducting scheduled operations.
* The USS Bonhomme Richard is currently located off the coast of Southern California conducting routine exercises.

* The USS George H. W. Bush is currently located off the coast of Virginia conducting routine exercises.
* The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CSG is located in the northern Arabian Sea conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR).
* The USS Harry S. Truman is under way conducting scheduled operations in the western Atlantic Ocean.
* The USS Ronald Reagan CSG departed Pearl Harbor on June 7 and is under way in the western Pacific Ocean as part of its scheduled deployment to the 7th and 5th Fleet AORs.
* The USS George Washington departed Yokosuka, Japan on June 10 for its scheduled 2009 summer deployment to the 7th Fleet AOR for maritime security operations.
* The USS John C. Stennis arrived in Bremerton, Washington after completing a scheduled six-month deployment to the western Pacific Ocean supporting maritime security operations.
* The USS Nimitz completed Composite Unit Training Exercises (COMPUTEX) and Joint Task Force Exercises (JTFEX) and has returned to its home port of San Diego, California.

* The USS Nassau is located off the coast of Virginia conducting routine operations.
* The USS Iwo Jima is returning to its home port of Norfolk, Virginia after participating in Fleet Week activities in New York City, New York.

* The USS Harry S. Truman departed Naval Station Norfolk, Va., on June 1 for scheduled operations in the western Atlantic Ocean.
* The USS Ronald Reagan CSG departed Naval Station San Diego on May 28 with Carrier Air Wing 14 embarked for a scheduled six-month overseas deployment to the 7th and 5th Fleet AORs to support maritime security operations.
* The USS George Washington is currently located in the East China Sea conducting Combat Operations Efficiency (COE) evaluations ahead of its scheduled 2009 summer deployment in the 7th Fleet AOR for maritime security operations.
* The USS John C. Stennis is currently located in Pearl Harbor for a scheduled port visit.
* The USS Nimitz is conducting Composite Unit Training Exercises (COMPUTEX) and Joint Task Force Exercises (JTFEX) in the Southern California Operating Area.

* The USS Nassau is located off the coast of Virginia conducting routine operations.
* The USS Bonhomme Richard is located in the Southern California Operating Area conducting routine operations.

* The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is currently located in the North Arabian Sea conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR).
* The USS John C. Stennis is under way in the western Pacific conducting scheduled operations as part of a six to seven month deployment.
* The USS Nimitz is currently located off the U.S. Pacific coast following the conclusion of the Composite Training Unit Exercise May 23.
* The USS G.H.W. Bush located off the coast of Virginia following the completion of flight deck certification May 21.

* The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower departed Manama, Bahrain May 19 following a four-day port visit and is currently conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility (AOR).
* The USS John C. Stennis is under way in the western Pacific Ocean conducting scheduled operations as part of a six- to seven-month deployment.
* The USS Nimitz is participating in Composite Training Unit Exercise and Joint Task Force Exercise off of the U.S. Pacific coast.
* The USS Theodore Roosevelt is currently conducting routine operations in the western Atlantic.
* The USS G.H.W. Bush is under way performing flight deck certifications in the Atlantic Ocean. The recently-commissioned aircraft carrier safely completed its first fixed-wing aircraft landing May 19.

* The Boxer ESG/13th MEU is currently deployed to the 5th Fleet AOR where it is conducting maritime security operations.
