Carrier Strike Groups

  • The USS Ronald Reagan CSG is currently operating under the U.S. Pacific Command, in the vicinity of the boundary between the U.S. 7th and 3rd fleets — demarcated by a long longitudinal line west of Hawaii.
  • The USS George Washington is located in the western Pacific Ocean conducting regular training exercises.
  • The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is under way in the western Atlantic Ocean.
  • The USS Theodore Roosevelt is located in the Northern Arabian Sea conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), which includes Iraq and Afghanistan.

Expeditionary Strike Groups

  • The USS Essex currently is under way in the East China Sea following the conclusion of the Korean Interoperability Training Program (KITP) on Nov. 9. The annual five-day bilateral exercise is designed to enhance joint combat readiness between the U.S. and South Korean militaries through intensive amphibious training.
  • The USS Boxer is conducting a Composite Training Unit Exercise in the Pacific Ocean as part of the preparation for its regularly scheduled deployment in early 2009.
  • The USS Bataan returned to sea Nov. 12 to conduct predeployment training operations. The ship departed from New York City, where it participated in a week-long port visit and community-relations project.
  • The USS Kearsarge is located off the coast of Guyana conducting humanitarian aid missions as part of Operation Continuing Promise 2008.
  • The USS Iwo Jima is currently under way in the Persian Gulf conducting maritime security operations in the 5th Fleet AOR.
